Five ways to celebrate your race!

Fall marathon season is upon us. I enjoyed spectating at the Chicago marathon a few weeks ago, Marine Corps Marathon is this weekend and New York is following closely behind. I think that races and accomplishments of all sizes should be celebrated – whether it’s your first 5k or you set a personal record at your latest marathon. Aside from your bib and photos, I wanted to share a few other ways to commemorate your accomplishments!

Project Life: February 2014

I’m continuing to share my 2014 Digital Project Life Photobook today – I recently got the hard copy in the mail and it looks AMAZING. I’m so happy with the quality and I’ll be sharing a sneak peek at the end of the post along with my referral code for a FREE 8×8 photobook for new Shutterfly customers.

The Perfect Summer Shoes: Spray Dyed TOMS!

I shared this teaser on my instagram a few weeks ago and I’m so excited to show y’all the final product today!

The very first time that I wore my white TOMS was on our October Disney trip last year and I swear I hadn’t even been wearing them an hour before I managed to spill something on them. I tried to clean them up right away with a Tide to Go pen, but that just seemed to make the stain spread more! When I got home from the trip, I tried a ton of other stain removers and nothing helped. But despite the stain, I knew that I could turn these into awesome one of a kind TOMS! I have a whole Pinterest board dedicated to creative TOMS so I had a hard time deciding what to do.  Continue reading

Project Life: January 2015

Happy Wednesday, friends! I hope everyone’s week is going well and you’re starting to look forward to the weekend! One reason I wanted to start a blog was to share some of my project life layouts. I love being able to look at others layouts in order to gain some inspiration, perspective and learn a little bit more about someone.

I am currently working in the digital format. Part of that is honestly due to money. I already have Photoshop thanks to my parents and I had bought a few digital Project Life collections that I could use over and and over again without needing to be replaced. I also like that I can make the page fit the photos I have – if I need an extra 4×6, I can create one in place of 2 3×4 pockets. I plan to have a photo book printed once the year is complete. I do miss the physical aspect though – I’m a definite paper hoarder with my business cards and ticket stubs. I am scanning some of these and including them digitally, but I also hope to add a pocket to the book when it done so I can include some of those physical mementos.

I also plan to do some mini-albums through the year, especially for trips like our honeymoon and the #myselfiescrapbook project by Jen Lake and crew.

January was my first full month in Austin so we explored a lot and practically ate our way through the city!

A Golden Makeover

Happy Wednesday, friends! I hope everyone is having a great week so far. I am currently busy making packing lists and deciding what to bring on our European honeymoon happening soon! What are you up to?

Today, I wanted to share a super easy DIY that can transform something that might not be your style into something you can’t wait to display! My mom gave me two squirrel statues that I liked, but there was something about them that didn’t go well when I put them display. I considered gifting them to another sorority sister (squirrels are my sorority‘s mascot) or donating them. Instead, I decided to make them over into something I love!

SUPPLIES:

  • Item(s) to make over  (squirrel statues in my case)
  • Spray paint in your color of choice (I picked gold because *swoon* loving gold right now)
  • Newspaper or paper bags to spray paint on and a well ventilated room (or just go outside like I did!)

Golden Makeover Squirrels and Gold Spray PaintI cleaned my squirrels with a cloth and toothbrush to be sure there was no dust or dirt in the crevices.

I ended up doing three to four coats, allowing the statue to dry in between coats and turning to be sure  I was getting all of the sides including under!

After allowing them to dry, the squirrels were ready! I have to say that I absolutely love them now and think they are so much more versatile in terms of home decoration now.

GoldenMakeover04What do you have around your house that you don’t quite love that needs a makeover? I encourage you to think outside of the box and make something over so you *love* it!
