Weekly Wrap: October 30 – November 5

Last week was a bit all over the place. Roswell had the flu (or at least, what we think was the flu), so I spent a lot of time running around, picking up soup and other comfort items when someone is sick, as well as trying to still do my workouts and keep the house in one piece. I honestly don’t know how people with families do it!

Still I really only missed one planned workout and then swapped another one, so I’m not feeling horrible about my accomplishments last week. I thankfully am feeling alright (*knock on wood*) and Roswell is back at work today, so back to normal!

Has the flu reached you yet this season? What are your go to home remedies?

Monday 10/30
Planned: BodyPump | Actual: Rest
I was not feeling BodyPump on Monday – with Roswell home sick with the flu, I was running to the store to pick up some chicken noodle soup and Gatorade for him. Sad faces.

Tuesday 10/31
Planned: 6:2 Intervals | Actual: 3.56 mi (47:33) 13:23 min/mi
My longest length of intervals I’ve done in a while, I did 4 repeats of 6 minutes at threshold and 2 minutes of recovery walking. It was hard, but thankfully the cooler weather made it tolerable. My average paces for the 6 minutes intervals were: 10:58, 10:38, 10:55, 11:03

After work, we were excited to hand out candy at our house for the first time. I love Halloween but, living in apartments, we didn’t get many/any trick or treaters for the last few years. We had about 15 trick or treaters and we finally watched Hocus Pocus for the first time this year!

Wednesday 11/1
Planned: BodyPump | Actual: Lunchtime Walk (60:00) and BodyPump (65:00)
We had our last ARHU Walks of the fall semester on Wednesday with a great turn out. After work, I made it to BodyPump and WORKED my arms – they were so sore!

ARHU Walks #3 Fall 2017

Thursday 11/2
Planned: 2:1 Intervals | Actual: 2.13 mi (30:01) 14:05 min/mi
It was a bit warmer today – but the workout was still really great. I got a little faster for each repeat, but it didn’t feel impossible. It was challenging, but manageable!

Friday 11/3
Planned: Rest | Actual: Rest

Saturday 11/4
Planned: 30 minute hill run | Actual: 3.10 mi (42:03) 13:34 min/mi

Saturday morning our ARHU Walks group headed to College Park parkrun for the culmination of our fall walk series. I had 30 minutes easy on the schedule, so I ran for 30 and then walk-ran the remaining 12 minutes of the run.

After parkrun, I went to see THOR 3 – Thor is my favorite Avenger and I was super excited about seeing the movie. I thought the movie was very funny and definitely worth seeing.

Sunday 11/5
Planned: 70 minute long run | Actual: Elliptical 4.33 mi (56:00) 4.6 mph

I was all thrown off because I stayed up late watching my latest Netflix obsession, Supergirl (which I had to watch after my last Netflix obsession The Flash), then I slept late Sunday morning and then I immediately plopped down the couch to watch the NYC marathon (WAY TO GO, SHALANE!). After watching the elites finish, I meal prepped a bit and before I knew it, it was time for my photography class. I ended up just heading to the gym after my class, since it was getting dark and I wasn’t necessarily feeling a humid, dark run. I popped on another episode of Supergirl (of course) and got to business on the elliptical.

elliptical workout!
Total mileage for the week: 9.25 miles
Total mileage for October: 47.11 miles

Training plan this week:
Monday: BodyPump
Tuesday: 30 minute recovery run
Wednesday: BodyPump
Thursday: 15:5 Intervals
Friday: Rest
Saturday: 80 minute long run
Sunday: 3:1 Intervals

Great job this week! That’s impressive that you got so much done with a member of the household sick. That always makes things tougher. Glad he’s better and you’re feeling good. I love that photo of the cat in the candy bucket 🙂 We saw Thor on Friday too and loved it!

I hope you won’t catch the flu. I’m not sure I’ve ever had it. {knock on wood} I’ve been getting a flu shot since my employer started offering free ones about 10-12 years ago. How fun to hand out candy from your new home. I’ve always enjoyed seeing all the costumes, even though it made our dogs crazy! Thanks for linking!
