I had a fairly alright week in training, even with starting my new job this past week! I wanted to make sure I got a run in on Monday since I slacked off last Sunday. The rest of the week was a little bit of a blur as I got used to my new commute and trying to figure out when the best time for working out would be for me now. I plan on throwing in a few morning runs in the coming week to see if those work better for me or if I should stick to after work runs. My PT did mention that she thought that I might be coming up on my last appointment with her. I do think that my injury has improved and I’m working on strengthening my hips and core, and now the rest of my lower body. She wanted me to go on one longer run before discharging me though, so on Sunday I went on a prescribed 5 mile run. I experienced some frustration with my FitBit and I’m now questioning it’s accuracy. Do you have a FitBit that you use specifically for running? Have you ever had any problems with the distance it tracks?
Tuesday 9/20: I have no idea what happened on Tuesday. I suppose since it was my first week of work at my new job, I may have decided not to do anything when I got home? Who knows. Do you ever have days like that in your training?
Thursday 9/22: Physical Therapy appointment – warmed up on the treadmill for 0.98 miles (13:20)
Friday 9/23: Roswell and I attempted to head out for a run after work on Friday, but when we arrived at the park we found that it was closing shortly and Roswell wasn’t feeling that great anyway so we just decided that was the universe telling us we needed to rest and recovery for the evening.
Saturday 9/24: We headed out to walk around DC today – we visited the National Zoo (had to visit our favorites: the otters and the red panda!), then Right Proper Brewing Company Shaw Brewpub and Kitchen (so good, definitely check it out if you’re ever in the area) and then we walked over to Warby Parker in the neighborhood to finally order new glasses for both of us (I went for the Wilkie and Roswell got the Langhorne)
Sunday 9/25: Run 4.8 miles (1:06:49) 13’55” pace
So I got a little frustrated with my Fitbit Blaze on this run. I wore my Garmin in addition to my Blaze in order to do run/walk intervals more easily. I got significantly different distances from both watches. My Blaze said 5.55 (map below) whereas my Garmin said 4.66. That’s nearly a mile difference?! According to the trail markings, I estimated my run to be around 4.8 miles.
Total mileage for the week: 11.56 miles
