It’s race week! Week 9 saw a little more running – I managed to run twice. Which was a 100% improvement over last week when I only ran once (and it showed). But now, it’s time to get ready to race. I’m working on a post for later this week sharing some goals for the race and how I’m preparing. The CUCB Social Media team also shared some tips to run your best race.
I’m loving Kim’s course guide, complete with even where the photographers and how to take your best race photo. I will be studying her guide over the next few days as I get ready to race! Do you have any race week traditions or do anything special when you’re preparing for a race?
Monday 3/20: Moving Day! Thanks to moving out of a third floor apartment, I ended the day with 36 flights of stairs (and over 10,000 steps).
Tuesday 3/21 & Wednesday 3/22: Spent the next two days unpacking the house since we were on spring break.
Thursday 3/23: First day back to work, with a new commute
Friday 3/24: 2.46 miles (35:44) 14:31 min/mi
My first day of run commuting! It was looking like it would be a warm afternoon, so I packed my running gear and brought it with me to work. Instead of the bus or having Roswell pick me up, I ran home – and it wasn’t awful! I stopped at several lights so Strava put my (moving) pace at 11:39 per mile while Garmin had my moving pace at 13:33 per mile. I’m looking forward to incorporating this into my regular routine!
Saturday 3/25: Spent the day celebrating Roswell’s birthday! Celebrations included turning in the keys for our apartment, visiting the dump to recycle a million boxes from moving, then really celebrating with charcuterie and beer/wine, then Whole Food grilled cheeses.
Sunday 3/26: 6.09 miles (1:14:45) 12:16 min/mi
A much better run than last week thanks to my running partner Christine! I felt like giving up a few times but Christine kept me going and we even talked about running the race together next week. So hopefully that will work out!
Total mileage for the week: 8.56 miles
My goals for this week:
- Foam Roll and Stretch
- 1 or 2 easy runs plus yoga a few times
- Drink all of the water to hydrate for race day!
