Recapping two weeks since I was out sick last week – I didn’t do any running last week and I missed the 5K we had planned for Saturday. I did use my time off to take a look at my training plan though – training for my goal September half starts next week! – as well as cross training I want to incorporate and the heart rate training I’ve been doing. I found that the heart rate zones in my Garmin that were based just on my Max Heart Rate, but I felt like they were off. So I decided to try the zones based on Heart Rate Reserve (HRmax – HRrest = HRreserve). I used my average resting heart rate from my Fitbit and I feel like the zones look so much better! I’m looking forward to seeing the difference this week. As for the cross training I mentioned – I think I’m going to sign up for group swim lessons. While I’m comfortable in a pool (and have even completed a sprint triathlon), I know swimming is not my strength and would love to learn better technique when it comes to strokes and breathing. Fun things to look forward to this summer!

Friday 4/28: I came home with a sore throat so I decided to relax for the night
Saturday 4/29: Still wasn’t feeling well, so I spent most of the day on the couch resting
Sunday 4/30: I took some cold medicine and braved the two events I had on Sunday: a sorority luncheon and concert at work. I’m surprised I didn’t take any photos, but that speaks to how I was feeling!

Monday 5/1 through Friday 5/5: my cold hit me hard and I missed several days of work. I did manage a few Instastories and thought about possible Disneyland Half costumes…
I also stayed up to watch the breaking 2 attempt (after a nap) – what inspiration!
Saturday 5/6: I was supposed to run a 5K Saturday morning. Unfortunately, having been out sick all week and then staying up until 2am to watch Breaking 2, we ended up over sleeping and not making the race.
Sunday 5/7: Sunday was really productive! We grocery shopped, meal prepped (using the Forks over Knives meal planner), then relaxed because all that was done before noon. We spent the later afternoon working in the yard. I’m looking forward to getting back to running this week!
