Week 3 was a bit slower than the last two as we were in Florida for the first half of the week. While I brought running clothes with me, it was very hot and it was nice being able to relax for a few days! So I didn’t end up running, or doing anything remotely active.
I probably could have added another day of running, but I didn’t unfortunately. I will probably end up just considering this my recovery week and get back to work this week! I’m starting my swimming lessons so I’m really looking forward to that!
Monday 5/29: Beach & Dunedin
Tuesday 5/30: Florida Aquarium
Wednesday 5/31: Flew back from Florida
Thursday 6/1: 2.53 mi (34:12) 13’30” min/mi | Avg HR 148
Friday 6/2: Rest – another case of trying to motivate myself to foam roll and it just not happening – which came back to bite me on Sunday when my legs were in a lot of pain.
Saturday 6/3: 2 hours of yard work – lots of pulling ivy and bagging brush.
We still have a lot to do in the backyard to make it what we want! Inside the house, we’re nearing completion of our concrete skimmed counter tops and we just put up a new light fixture in our living room that makes a WORLD of difference!
Sunday 6/4: Warm up + Herndon Festival 5K + Cool down: 5.3 miles (1:14:01) 13:57 min/mi avg pace | Avg HR for 5K 171 (yikes!)
I debated between two different 5Ks this weekend, and while the other one had fun bling and Des Linden, I picked this one for the ease of adding additional mileage to hit my long run distance. The 5K ran through my hometown and ended with my favorite part – yummy breakfast from the Great Harvest Bread Company. I love their muffins and delicious bread! The actual 5K was done in 37:15 with an average pace of 11:51 min/mi. Again, too fast for a long run – I promise no races for my long runs in my foreseeable future. I am doing a fun 5K in August – the Hardest Cider Run Hungry Apple Challenge. During the 5K, you get a donut at each mile marker! Donuts and hard cider sounds perfect to me!
I spent the rest of Sunday morning at the festival (which the 5K was part of) with my nieces and then a busy evening at home preparing for the week ahead!
