Weekly Wrap: August 28 – September 3

Two days were definitely required to recover from the epic weekend we just experienced! I am working on my race recaps, but I had a great time at the Disneyland Half Marathon weekend despite the high temperatures! I can definitely understand what I’ve read about this being the best race weekend at Disneyland – it definitely lived up to the hype. And I’m experiencing all of the post Disney blues right now, ready to plan our next Disney adventure.

However, I am glad that this half marathon is behind me – and I can start concentrating on shorter distances for a while. Roswell and I have (jokingly, but not jokingly) made a deal that if I can place in Corral A for a Disney race, he would stop and all of the character photos I would want. Since I placed in corrals G and F this race, I’ve got QUITE a bit of work to do.

Monday 8/28: Rest

We had planned to go to the gym on campus, but Roswell texted me that there was a crazy line to just get into the gym and then every piece of equipment had a line of 3 to 4 people. Thank you, first day of classes and people who are motivated. We will have to wait a few week until that motivation wears off 😉

Tuesday 8/29:  2.24 mi (34:54) 15:35 min/mi (2:2 intervals)

This morning I did some treadmill intervals – walked 4 minutes to warm up; 2 minutes running @ 4.5-6.0 mph, 2 minutes walking @ 3.5 mph; 5 minutes cool down walk. I finished up with 10 minutes of Quick Strength for Runners Core & Hips.

Wednesday 8/30: 1.00 mi warm up on the treadmill + Nike Training Club Fresh on the Circuit

Thursday 8/31: 2.34 mi (34:41) 14:48 min/mi  (10:1 intervals)

Friday 9/1: Rest – travel day! Disneyland Expo!

Saturday 9/2: Disneyland 10K

Sunday 9/3: Disneyland Half Marathon

Total mileage for the week:  25.26 miles
Total mileage for August:
 38.62 miles

Tuesday: Rest
Wednesday: Rest
Thursday: Easy run
Friday: Gym
Saturday: Long Run
